" Palazzo Da Mula" Claude Monet Impressionist Piece

Project type

Fine Art, Oil Pastel, Drawing, Impressionism

Date

2018

This piece was a recreation of the famous Impressionist painting "Palazzo Da Mula" by Claude Monet. The Impressionist movement was developed in France in the 19th century. The technique portrayed visual effects instead of details, unmixed colors, and intense color vibration to give the impression of light. When recreating this oil based painting I wanted to focus my attention on the color blending to create the shadowing, and highlight effect. While keeping to the original I used topazes, reds, and shades of pinks to be the base of the painting. In creating this painting, I tried to keep to as little details as possible, being that a lot of Impressionist art was more visual and displayed a sense of movement rather than portraying accuracy. The goal of this piece was to communicate a knowledge of using another medium as well as knowing the bases of blending techniques. Creating this fine arts artwork, shows that I can create a variety of art, also challenges my skill at using other mediums besides a pen and pencil.
