This art piece show the technique of scratchboard, which is a medium consisting of scratching away the black top layer and unveiling the highlights of this panel. The exacting of this piece was to show contrast between highlights and shadows; also precision in stippling strokes. The end result shows a very dramatic image that evokes emotion and the appearance of natural lighting.
